Your Weekly Security News: EA web page hacked for phishing scheme

According to CNET one the today's biggest gaming studio, Electronic Arts or EA was breached by hackers. This allowed the hackers to create a phony Apple log-in prompt and steal users information.
Using some clever trickery the hackers were able to breach EA web page, and transform it into a bogus Apple log-in screen. Once the users were logged in, they were prompt to enter their date of birth, credit card number and other personal information.
Luckily the security firm Netcraft discovered the scheme and notified Apple last Tuesday. According to Netcraft the way the hackers created the fake Apple screen was by accessing one of EA gaming servers, and likely the hacker got into the system and set up a phishing page.
EA informed CNET that the situation is now under control, "We have found it, we have isolated it, and we are making sure such attempts are no longer possible" said EA spokesman John Reseburg.
In conclusion to stay safe never provide your personal information to a website that did not require it prior, and if the site is redirected to something else that should be a sign for you to stay away.
